APPLY NOW!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Midwest Lindyfest! Below are some frequently asked questions as well as our form above, which you may use to apply to join our volunteer team. You may also reach out to Britt with more specific questions at volunteer@midwestlindyfest.com.

What does Volunteering Involve?

There are a small range of volunteer duties, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Registration Desk (helping attendees sign in, know where to go, pay if needed, obtain wristbands, t-shirts, and other relevant materials, etc.)
  • Door Monitor (welcoming attendees and ensuring that people coming inside are all wearing the appropriate wristband)
  • Driving (helping bring instructors and/or equipment between venues; vehicle and license required)
  • Event Set-up/Take-down (behind-the-scenes preparation of rooms)

Sound (behind-the-scenes preparation of sound; previous experience required)

How much of a commitment is this?

We ask volunteers to cover a minimum of 4 hours over the weekend. Please plan to also attend a Friday evening mandatory volunteer meeting around suppertime during the event weekend.

In addition to that, there will be a couple training materials we ask volunteers to know. These can be learned either through a couple methods: written materials dispersed via email as well as through the volunteer meetings on Monday evening (for locals) and on Friday evening around suppertime (for everyone) the week of Midwest.

Reimbursement?

After the event, we will reimburse you based on the number of hours you worked. We expect volunteers to work for a minimum of 4 hours; once that benchmark is reached, we reimburse at a rate of $10/hr worked. You must complete your scheduled shift in order to be reimbursed for the full amount.

Do I still need to buy a ticket to the weekend?

We do ask all volunteers to purchase a Full Workshop Pass for MidWest Lindy Fest. If this is a concern for you, please contact Britt via the email listed above.

When do I decide if I’m going to volunteer?

Now! We’re taking volunteer applications until March 16, 2020.

What if I’m not sure yet whether I can commit?

If you are interested but don’t yet know your schedule, communicate that! I encourage you to apply but be clear about your schedule – it’s easier for us to include you in the process from the getgo than to try pulling you in later.

How do I sign up?

Click the link to fill out our application via Google Docs. It will take about 10 minutes to complete the form.

What happens after I sign up?

We choose volunteers as part of an application process. After completing the form, we will contact you via email as to next steps, which will include whether we’d like you to join our volunteer team as well as figuring out schedules, duties, and training in greater detail.
